After his speech, German Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Dr. Guido Westerwelle handed over the award to R. Münscher at a ceremony with some 700 guests from the world of politics, business and science on July 13th 2010 in Fürth.
The prize was awarded to R. Münscher for is research on intercultural misunderstandings in trust development using the example of German-French business collaboration.
The Ludwig-Erhard-Prize 2010 of Fürth, which is at the same time the ‘Prize of Nuremberg Metropolitan Area, is awarded each year by the Ludwig-Erhard-Initiativkreis Fürth e.V. It is to honour “a high-level Ph.D. dissertation”, which meets the critera “Innovation, practical relevance, feasibility, economic benefits, and societal relevance” – and thus shows that “science can, in terms of Ludwig Erhard, connect innovative ideas with positive effects on society”.
For his application to the Ludwig-Erhard-Prize, R. Münscher presented his research on cultural misunderstandings in trust development in a 2-minutes filmlet.
In his acceptance speech, he pointed to the responsibility of German managers towards their companies for acting interculturally competent in international business situations and successfully build international relationships.
