Films 2: Further outstanding films

Besides the award-winning films, each semester some films may stand out for their original ideas of content or presentation – or overwhelming technical realization of the overall presentation. Some examples include:

Out of Reutlingen - Experiences in Switzerland
Fabian Müller

tl_files/jh_images_screenshots/switzerland.gif     The film is realized in the framework of a student's internship in Switzerland. It presents among others very interesting interviews with a Swiss and a German female employee. It has a good focus on invisible aspects of the culture: e.g. communication style, working morale, time management.

Out of Reutlingen - How real are stereotypes about Vietnam?
Stanislas Hug, Philip Jung Gutiérrez

tl_files/jh_images_screenshots/vietnam_2.gif     Very well and fancy film about the Vietnamese culture with interesting intercultural topics (e.g. gambling, gender inequality, family life). Features: background video that shows a tour through the city, mixed with own videos, written comments faded in.

Out of Reutlingen - Interviews with a Mexican manager and a Mexican student
Daniel Bertram, Daniel Roth, Lina Schuhmacher

tl_files/jh_images_screenshots/mexico.gif

The film presents two intersting interviews, one with a Mexican manager, the second with a Mexican student. Both have lived in Germany for a while and compare the two cultures.

Out of Reutlingen - Experiences with the education system in GB
Maike Pfennig, Julia Schubert

tl_files/jh_images_screenshots/gb_education.gif

Very good reflection on cultural differences concerning study related issues (relationship to professors, group work etc.). Features: own comments, interview with Chinese students who compare the British educational culture with the Chinese culture.

Out of Reutlingen - Australia, culturally diverse perspectives
Monica Baer

tl_files/jh_images_screenshots/australia.gif

Good idea: A statement of an international student about the Australian culture is presented and followed by comments of an Australian student. This is repeated several times.

Out of Reutlingen - Experiences in Great Britain
Charlotte Folger, Valerie Lorenz, Felicitas Sieber

tl_files/jh_images_screenshots/great_britain.gif

Many interviews with foreign and local students on the British and the German culture and students’ experiences with the British culture are presented; good aspect: at some points the fotos illustrate very well the content of the interviews.
